So what does a Script Doctor do? Well, it varies. A script doctor can be an editor, a thinking partner, a writing buddy, or a mixture of all three.
Does my script have to be sick? No, your script has to be good. So good that you want to nurture it. Put simply, using a script doctor is a quick way of accessing experience and expertise and applying it where it can be most useful.
Does it have to be a script? No. We can polish drafts, prepare outlines, even smarten up an entire book. It doesn’t even have to be on paper. You may just need some help with your thinking, to organise material or plan research.
When do I call in a script doctor? You can involve a script doctor at any stage. Right at the start, when we have a bunch of ideas generating techniques to inspire you. Or, when you've got a draft, we'll help you punch up gags, strengthen structure and polish dialogue. When you’re stuck, we can help you sort the mess, or, if you've already edited it to within an inch of its life, we can stand back and offer an objective view. When you're getting close to production we can make sure that the script is going to play, and help you think about casting. And as we are also directors, we can help with delivery and performance too.
Really, it’s up to you, you tell us what you need and we’ll provide it.
