What will you do?
Figure out how good dialogue works and then practice writing it.
First, you’ll take a close look at writers who really can produce memorable speech, from Groucho Marx to David Mamet and Nora Ephron. You’ll looks at scripts from The West Wing, Eastenders, Toy Story and Goodfellas; the whole gamut of styles from naturalistic to highly stylised. You’ll discuss how dialogue can develop plot and express character, you'll consider the difference between film and radio speech, drama and ads. Practical, analytical, illustrated by clips, demonstrated by actors - a whole day devoted to what people do most - TALK.
